State Convention and Leader U Region 6 will pay for 1 hotel room for 2 nights to locals that qualify. A local officer must complete the “Assistance Requested” form and submit a copy to the region president and region treasurer. Requests must be made by the registration deadline for the event. (The Region Rebate, described above, can be used to defer the costs of registration, food and travel.) The form is below.

Professional Development Grants
ASSOCIATION OF TEXAS PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS Region 6 ATPE will reward a minimum of 10 grants for professional development to members. These grants are designed to reimburse the cost of tuition and fees for a college course, or registration and expenses for a conference or workshop. Each grant will not exceed $250 per applicant.
GUIDELINES: 1. Applicant must be an ATPE member within Region 6. 2. To be eligible for the grant money, applicants must be pursuing coursework in the field of educational or attending an educational workshop or professional conference. 3. The following items must be included for a complete application to be reviewed by the selection committee. Applications must be postmarked by the application deadline. · Information Sheet (second page of this form) · A 150-word typed statement giving your justification for the grant · Two letters of recommendation
4. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
SELECTION PROCESS: 1. The Money is given as a reimbursement for expenses incurred from September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2008 2. Applications received by the Selection Committee Chairperson, Kathleen Chance, must be postmarked no later than December 1, 2007 for the January selection and no later than April 30, 2008 for the May selection. 3. The Grant Selection Committee members will review the applications to select the grant recipients. 4. The grant recipients will be notified within 45 days of the selection deadline. 5. Upon successful completion of the coursework or workshop, a transcript or certificate of completion must be submitted to the Region 6 Treasurer before September 15, 2008 for reimbursement. 6. The money is given as a reimbursement for expenses incurred from September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2008.
